While I was photographing and suffering for my art. (See the post below). Jenny Suro was photographing Jason and Rebecca for me in air conditioned comfort at Terrigal in the Onda Restaurant. Jenny helps me out every now and then when I need a second shooter or there is a small wedding reception that I’m unable to photograph. Thanks Jenny I’m sure both Jason and Rebecca will be pleased.

MARK AND ALISON A BEACH WEDDING
January 18, 2010 by Neville · 2 Comments
I first met Alison at her florist, Blooms at The Bay in Long Jetty about one and half years ago, I had just photographed Martin and Candice’s wedding and, having found out who done Candice’s flowers I popped into Alison’s florist to say hello and drop a few business card’s off, that’s pretty much how I came to photograph her wedding to Mark last Saturday. The light was the best, I could not of asked for anything better, no wind and a light cloud cover, perfect. We popped down to Bateau Bay beach to do the photography, so for an hour we managed to capture some wonderful images I know they are going to be pleased with. If your a bride looking for a florist, go and see Alison, you cant go past this girls style.

After taking the day off yesterday to pop to Sydney with my son Ely to buy himself a new scooter, a local scumbag stole his other one over Christmas. Today I have managed to process more images from my shoot with Jess on Bateau Bay beach, thought you might like to have a look. If anybody want’s to have a new model portfolio done give me a call, I’m sure we can create something a lot different than you have now.
JESS ON BATEAU BAY BEACH

Yesterday afternoon I spent photographing Jess Oldfield, she’s the daughter to the Pastors Phil and Julie of Christian City Church. For a couple of hours we along with Bryce, an up and coming landscape photographer, had some fun creating these images for Jess’s portfolio and a personal project I’m working on. The afternoon light was just perfect, the way I like it and, when Jess sees these I think they will be the images she will like.
HOW TO BECOME A LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHER
January 12, 2010 by Neville · 2 Comments
What to shoot
Think about what’s in your mind’s eye when you look at a landscape. Look beyond the literal. It’s not just about the big picture – there are pictures within pictures. It’s got to be something that speaks to you.
How to shoot
Less is more. Try to simplify the landscape. Think about what’s unnecessary, what you can you leave out from the image, leave the basic elements. If there is too much in a picture it reduces the impact and the eye is drawn away from the subject you are focusing on. It is also important to leave enough information for people to know what they are looking at straight away.
When to shoot
The best times of day for landscape light are dawn and dusk. For sunsets you will get a better picture if you wait up to half an hour after the sun has gone down. If you have to ask yourself: “Have I got that picture?” the answer is no. If you haven’t got it, get closer and try again.

The latest book to add to my growing collection has just arrived LILLIAN BASSMAN WOMEN. It contains the images from a photographer who’s work I have admired for far too many years, Lillian Bassman, a fashion photographer in the 1950′s to early 60′s for Harper’s Bazaar who can capture the most painterly images you are ever likely to see.
