When I first started making pictures on a more serious level I used to shoot nearly everything in black and white, then have prints made and go and see the photographer at Aberdare County Council in South Wales who would help in giving me advice. Brian Jordan would point out things that I didn’t see, or understand what I was doing, it was a huge help. So for my new portfolio I’m putting together, I thought I would go back to where it all began. Black and White. You can dodge and burn to your hearts content to make the print you really want. As most of my photography is about emotion, Im not so interested in the detail, its the feeling I’m after more than anything else.

Saturday was the very special day for Michael and Kailey who were married at Noonaweena, one of my all time favourite places. On the way there the weather was not looking good, there seemed to be a storm rolling in and it did rain but only while everybody was getting ready. Then as it was about to kick off, out came the sun, and it remained that way all afternoon, giving me the opportunity to create some great images for two fantastic people, who I must say were really nervous before the event. So a big hug to Michael and Kailey for giving me the privilege of photographing their day, and a big thank you to all of the staff at Noonaweena who made so perfect.

The months pass ever so quickly, Lauren is now 24 weeks with her twins and I know what they are but I’m not telling. We decided to go and shoot this months image on black. My problem is going to be, come up with something different each month. But I have to say Lauren looks fantastic, she is glowing and I’m enjoying this shoot so much.

We seem to be having a taste of the summer which is just around the corner this week. The temperature yesterday was, in my little office a bit on the sticky side to say the least as I haven’t even dug the fans out yet. today it’s a lot better. So! as I didn’t shoot any images yesterday I made a table top set-up today. I went on the hunt for a table cloth that had to be ironed, and my Emma’s bed sheet to be used as a backdrop. the flower came from my garden, the only flower that was in it. I dont have a green finger on any hand. The books are Em’s too. It was shot under my awning with a black board to the right of the frame to kill the glare bouncing back on that side. My aim was for a bright, summer and cheerful image.

If your a regular reader of my blog you’ll know that I’m photographing Lauren’s growing belly with twins inside. Well this is month five and I wanted something a little different. So we shot it white on white, with clean lines and an all round lighting, which was a set up of two SB600′s and one SB900 through brolly’s plus natural room light, the lights were triggered by my SU800 which does a great job if the flashes are in sight of it. The background was a roll of white seamless. After processing which was set as high key, I crossed processed the image to give it this lovely tone, the black and white one looks great also, that had a selenium tone done to it.

Well as promised here are a few images from Rod and Keira’s big day. As you can see we all had a great time, but I still think the lads watch too much TV:) but I didn’t mind as it made for some fun shot’s.

I was the lucky photographer who photographed Rod and Keira’s wedding yesterday. It was an awesome beautiful day, with a great couple and the best family. So here, until I can start and do my edit are three images just to wet your appetite.
