The black and white shots were captured in Aberystwyth, Wales last week while staying with my brother Glyn and, my mother lin-law portrait of Pauline said I can only photograph her with a bag on her head, so I did. Although I did manage to get a shot without it.

The image of the WW 1 soldier is of my Great Uncle Arthur who was killed in action in October 1917 at Passchendaele, he was in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. I repaired the image the other day.

Yesterday evening I was invited by Sally Evan’s a photographer in the Kenilworth area, to come along to her camera buddies meeting, I had a good time showed of a few images and met some nice people. Thanks Sally for the invite.

FROM LLANLLUGAN TO CARNO

This was the view yesterday afternoon on top of the mountain before we drove down to Carno after a pint in the local. While shooting this image the farmer popped over to see what we were up to, he didn’t mind us being there so we spent a good 20 minutes talking.

MID WALES WITH MY BROTHER

What have I been up to these last few day’s? Well here’s a few shots I have managed to squeeze of on my countryside rambles with my brother Glyn. Glyn lives in a small 200 year old cottage in the beautiful green Mid Wales mountains. So I haven’t done much photography more of talking and walking. The images below are of Minllyn, Waen Oer and En-Rout to Cader Idris.

ASHOR CHURCH

For those wondering where I have been these last few days, well this little place just down the road from my parents home is called Ashor, the image is of the parish church, not quite what I wanted but I just had to put something up for you to see. There will be plenty for you all to see in the following days, especially now I’ve found internet access.

Well Kelly of Annabella Creations emailed me these boards they have put together, they will be sent out to all their prospective clients. I love it when I see how my work is used.

CUTLERS THE LAW FIRM

Finished the shoot for Stephen Cutler of The Law Firm this week. They are in the process of upgrading their look and needed new fresh imagery to make it happen. I have been doing work for Stephen for about 15 years now, he was one of the first clients I picked up when I started selling my work door to door so to speak. He was also the solicitor I used to help me through the contract on the gallery. This image was lit with two speedlights an SB900 and a SB600 into brollys, camera was on Aperture Priority using Nikons CLS (Creative Lighting System), so that I could light the faces and use the ambient light coming from the window and lights in the room. Making the image bright and cheerful.

CATHERINE HILL BAY

I popped up to Catherine hill Bay this morning, it was windy, cold and very grey, but I’m a Pro, so I had to shoot something. Climbing all over the rocks, but not getting too close to the edge as the swell was coming up a little to high at times, the rocks had this bright coloured lichen stuff all over the place and with the low grey cloud cover it made sense to photograph it as the colour became more saturated. It wasn’t a day for grand panoramas, but a more detailed landscape image, where, what was in the landscape is more important than what the place looked like. I will go back sometime to shoot more images as there was plenty of possibilities. Thanks Adam for telling me about this place.

A RIVER SOMEWHERE

It’s been a long time since I’ve stood by a river, to photograph or just look at. This is the river Wye in Mid-Wales on a very cold winter morning. I was there with my dad, we had climbed over the fence and walked down the bank a little so that I could get a good position to look back up the flow of the river. The sun was in a perfect position. I was using a Pentax 67 loaded with Fuji 100 iso Velvia, I have no idea what the exposure was, quite frankly I dont care, I just like the image. Wales has some great rivers, because it rains a lot, the best weather for the photographer who wants to capture landscape images with all that the landscape has to offer. there’s an old welsh saying. God made Wales first, and with what beauty he had left he made the rest of the world. I am biased.

LONG JETTY

I shot the jetty at Long Jetty this afternoon. I haven’t shot much for myself in the last couple of weeks so after a day in front of the computer and booking a wedding today with a real nice couple, I thought, treat yourself to a picture Nev. This was shot on the D3 @ 100iso with the 24-70mm at 24mm, a natural density 81EF .6 to hold the sky and warm the scene up a little further.

ANDREA

Went down to the beach on Saturday morning to photograph Andrea, who is the sister of Kristie who’s wedding I photographed in Sydney a few weeks ago. Andrea wanted some shots for her portfolio, natural outdoors type and Saturday was a most fantastic day for it, sun was in the right place, wind was blowing in the right direction, temperature was just right, pretty girl, great photographer (well I have to blow my own trumpet sometimes). We had a great time, except for the last set up where Andrea fell in the sea. Oh! And I did loose my cap to the ocean.
