RHONDA BIRCHMORE

In 2001/2002 I was hired to photograph a whole lot of Australian celebrities for a book titled, “Moments of Truth”. Rhonda Birchmore was just one of them. I had flown down to Melbourne to do the shoot, when I have to do these shoots I always panic a bit, as I more often than not dont have very much time, in some cases half an hour has been given to do the shoot only to find you have less than 3 minuets, but that’s another story. In Rhonda’s case we met at her home then went for a walk down the street to see what was available. Street cafe’s are all over the place in Melbourne so that’s what I decided to use. we ordered coffee then I set about capturing the image, there was not much room to move on the pavement so I stood between two parked cars and hand held a 6X7 cm Pentax, Rhonda asked if she should remove her glasses but I said she can keep them on as the sun was low and bright and she would squint too much, that’s when I made this picture, just as she was saying. I love you Nev, other photographers usually ask me to remove them.

In part two of my Jess post I thought you would like to see a few images of here niece who was here on the shoot and wanted to get in on things, so while Jess was having a wardrobe change I squeezed of a couple of frames.
One of the shots has been worked a lot but I have also included the original.
JESS
If your a regular visitor to this blog you would have seen Jess before here, when we went down to Bateau Bay beach to shoot some location images, well last Saturday Jess came in for her studio shots and, what fun we had. I popped down to the total Party Shop to get some helium balloons and, Susan at Susan’s interior decorating Erina (02 4365 1516) let me borrow this great bench made of metal. The whole thing came together fantastically. I still have a few image to process but here are a few for you to have a look at. If any of you want to learn how to light portraiture like this then give me a call.

SUNDAY IN FRONT OF THE BOX

What a great weekend of TV. For the most part of yesterday afternoon there were no fewer than 4 programs all about photography, my favorite subject. First off was my favorite portrait photographer, Annie Leibovitz, then we had another program about Yann Arthus Bertrand, a French photographer then onto master photographers , one being Timothy Greenfield Sanders, to finish off we had Bill Henson. I can only say thank you ABC 2, keep it up.
Watching Annie Leibovitz work reminded me of my celebrity portraits I was asked to photograph a few years ago, I have posted 6 images for you, three men and three ladies. In order we have my favorite subject, Grace Knight she has a great voice, then because they are on stage together at the moment, Rhonada Birchmore and Lorraine Bailey. For the blokes there is Laurie Lawrence, Guy Leech and Normie Rowe who didn’t like his picture. There are many more but I will leave them for another time maybe
THE WEEKEND

Because it’s the weekend and I’ve had a busy week of editing I thought I would post a couple of fun shots I done in the studio late last year of Tamar.
ZOE.
Before the rain hit I was down at the beach this morning photographing Zoe, for a couple of hours we managed a few looks that as you can see from these two are really quite lovely. These were the only two I managed to finish in just enough time to post here then have something to eat before I head off home. Hope you all have a great weekend. Nev.

After taking the day off yesterday to pop to Sydney with my son Ely to buy himself a new scooter, a local scumbag stole his other one over Christmas. Today I have managed to process more images from my shoot with Jess on Bateau Bay beach, thought you might like to have a look. If anybody want’s to have a new model portfolio done give me a call, I’m sure we can create something a lot different than you have now.
